Going with a high quality grade is key when you're getting started with essential oils . Especially if you want to use them to manage your families health, support your body, help with your PCOS symptoms and if you want to get effective, safe results.
Unfortunately, the essential oil industry is unregulated and as a result many company's are jumping on the essential oil band wagon. Any company can call their essential oil 'pure', when it could be totally synthetic. So it's important to do your homework.
For me, when I started using essential oils I wanted to go with the best quality essential oil I could find, and more importantly I wanted to use an essential oil that was tested so purity was guaranteed. The grade you will find throughout this site is CPTG, which is recognised by industry experts as the best quality benchmark found globally.

CPTG stands for Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (a mouthful, I know!). This is a very prestigious benchmark, and as I said earlier, it is considered as the highest grade by industry experts. So what does CPTG mean and why does it matter?
Place of Origin
Let's look at why the place of origin is important and take one of my favourite essential oils as an example. Grapefruit... I am obsessed with grapefruit essential oil because its aroma is so uplifting on my mood. I love drinking it my water. Its helps to reduce sugar cravings, promotes weight loss, is amazing for lymph drainage (so great for cellulite!), and its a very easy way to promote a daily detox.
I know that I can't grow a grapefruit tree in my back garden in the rainy west of Ireland. Each plant requires a certain climate, rainfall, altitude & PH level of the soil for it to grow naturally. So I'm pretty sure that a Grapefruit tree wouldn't stand a chance in Ireland! However, the grapefruit you'll find in South America can thrive naturally without any intervention with chemicals, so the plant is organic. This is KEY.
For me, whats also really important is that the essential oil is ethically sourced. In a lot of cases, our essential oils are sourced from third world countries where there is so much poverty. doTERRA have an incredible Co-Impact sourcing model where they give so much back to the farmers. For example, by building schools, medical centers and developing wells for clean water.

Testing
After an essential oil is sourced and gently distilled, each batch of essential oil is tested by an essential oil chemistry team. As seasons change and natural disasters occur, the quality of the plant can change quite quickly. This is why an essential oil is checked for safety and quality. This is why testing is key.
I know when I am adding my grapefruit essential oil to my water, it has been tested and certified. That's how I know it's safe to ingest, and also safe to use on my skin. To learn more about the sourcing process you can check it out here, or take a look at the below video.
