Last night I hit the Strandhill Peoples Market in Sligo. I planned on doing all my Christmas shopping for family and friends, but I splurged more on me than anyone else. For anyone that hasn’t been yet, this market is the best one out there. Its the crème de la crème of artists, designers, craftspeople, foodies etc. Here are my top 3 buys for under €40.
Keep Cup - The Reusable, NOT Disposable Coffee Cup €18
I hate to admit it, but I have serious coffee addiction. It’s a love hate relationship, which’ll be worked on in the New Year. I spend a good bit of time on the road, and when I’m behind the wheel I love nothing more than a coffee in tow & a few good tunes!
I’ve done the maths, and I reckon that I average about 4-5 cups of coffee a week in a disposable cup. That’s about 250 disposable cups a year, which is taking its toll on the environment.
We’re a coffee society and its putting pressure on our planet. Even the government are talking about bringing in a Latte Levy. I read that approx 2 million paper cups are disposed of daily in Ireland.... Yes. DAILY! So time we all did our part and picked up a Keep Cup. I got mine last night for €18.
The Keep Cup comes in really fun pretty colours & a range of sizes. My cup is 340 ml - the size of a tall Americano at Starbucks. Here are some more cool features:
* Hard lid for ease of use.
* Lightweight and breakable.
* Dishwasher safe ( I’m super lazy, so this is VERY important!)
* Recyclable at end of life.
* Plug covers mouthpiece when not in use (in other words, it doesn’t leak every where!)
* Splashproof lid.
* Non toxic & BPA / BPS free
This is a great gift for a fellow coffee lover (or for yourself). Snag yours up for €18. The ideal Kris Kindle gift for under twenty quid.
I met the Artist & founder of Pilgrim soul - Amanda Grace, earlier this year and have been mesmerised by her artwork since. Her work is unapologetic, fierce & raw.
Amanda teaches journaling workshops nationwide, where she brings together creative writing and art. Cannot recommend her more. Check her out on Instagram here.
Seaweed Set €22
As you've probably already guessed, I’m all over anything that promotes wellness. Queue Seaweed.
Seashore Veg sources and gently airdries homegrown Seaweed from Co Sligo. I picked up a few nets of this powerhouse Seaweed for myself & I’ll give a net or two as gifts.
I started using Seaweed a couple of months back and I’m obsessed. After doing a Seaweed bath your skin glows for days and your nails are as hard as, well – nails!
Seaweed is full of minerals and rich in algae. It totally warrants a standalone post which I’ll do another day. Just take my word for it. This stuff is magic.
Pick up a Seaweed set for €22.
